LRhodey is the son of Jeannette Rhodes and a man who left before Rhodey was born. Jeannette was an Attorney in Philadelphia, involved in the Civil Rights Campaign, and well to do. She sent both of her children, Jeannette, and Rhodey to private schools, and then Rhodey went to MIT at seventeen. Rhodey majored in Aerospace Engineering. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC and Arnold Air Society as well as the Ulimate Frisbee team, and an off campuse Barbershop quartet. Other than that, he enjoyed throwing tennis balls that had been soaked in alcohol and then lit on fire at night, partying responsibly and getting stoned on pot . He also on occasion was Tony's alibi when Tony could have gotten into trouble. After college he finished his piloting training and settled in to put in a couple years work at the Air Force. Tony eventually tapped him to be the liaison between the armed forces and Tony himself. Obadiah was not please..
